I will not leave you as orphans

I was excited to see that a new bird had laid two new eggs. It left the nest for a bit, so I took a picture.

And then it didn’t come back for over three days. And it’s still not back.

And, as pointed out by Lori, these eggs are now orphans. The ones that were nurtured flew away, but these eggs are left as orphans.

And brought to mind is this, a promise from Jesus in John 14: “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.”

Oof, some days the simplest pictures and experiences make my heart ache.

  1. I was thinking that same thing (about them being orphans) and it made my heart ache too. Especially when the last babies brought such joy to you guys. Sometimes it’s hard living in a fallen, broken world….
