one little egg

When we moved into our apartment, the screen on our kitchen window was pushed up a bit. We left it, and I’m glad. This one little egg was sitting there this morning.

Such a sweet, simple reminder of the new life brought with spring, as well as this passage:

So have no fear of them, for nothing is covered that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known. What I tell you in the dark, say in the light, and what you hear whispered, proclaim on the housetops. And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven, but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven.

[Matthew 10:26-33, ESV]

edited to add: Here’s the mamma bird! Or dad? We researched, and the bird is definitely a mourning dove. And apparently the dads sit on the nest during the day. Sad our windows are so dirty… It’s on the outside. We’ve tried to clean them.

  1. How sweet !! Mama bird must be confident that you two will enjoy the activity. We have a couple ponds near our building, and ducks appreciate them. The other evening one duck was on our parking lot and then up on the closest curb for a while. It flew over to one of the ponds. I hope she was looking for a good nesting place. Have a good week.
