Further signs of my growing up: I’ve become enamored with pretty cake stands. I have one from my mom already, so I’m not even on the market… but look at these!

I’m turning into my mom. She loves little journals. She writes tons of lists in them. And look at me now…
Just bought this cutie to use at work:
I’m getting sick of the overuse of this term, but my purchase was definitely a money-saving “fail.”
This may be a new series. Cute things are totally testing my money management abilities these days. Maybe I’ll make myself confess to you all if I do actually buy something featured in one of these posts.
So, part one: decorative tape.

Hallie and I jumped on the train to Brooklyn to go to the Renegade Craft Fair this Saturday. Many of the artists/crafters their sell their goods on Etsy. There were over 250 booths with lots of t-shirts, prints, jewelry, handbags and… mustache things. Also seen: small dogs, lots of cute babies and really hip people. (The fair was in the artsy, young area of Brooklyn).
I made it out with only one purchase — a zippered clutch made by Emily of Applecart.

After exploring the area for a bit, we grabbed some ice cream because it was so toasty out. (Yes, Mom, I got a little sunburned. But I now have a Post-It on my desk that says ’sunscreen.’) Then, we headed to what is debatably my favorite NY spot — the Brooklyn Bridge.

That night, I joined up with Hallie and her roommates for a late dinner at a nearby Mexican place that offers free chips and salsa (which is unusual in NYC).

Blessed with a mother who was a home economics major and is great at sewing, I won’t need to buy my costume. But if I had a child…

I love this calendar I bought off Etsy. The seller was nice enough to include extra months in it for me, since I wasn’t patient enough to wait until December to get the 2009 version. Those who love graphic design will especially appreciate her calendars… Check them out here.
I just got a roll of black and white film developed. I had taken it with my Minolta Maxxum 7000, which is older than I am. Among my favorites from the roll is this picture of a little plastic dinosaur I found buried in the sand at Square Lake in Minnesota. He now sits on my windowsill.

Another Flickr find. Laura Kicey’s (also known as helveticaneue) “Construct” series contains images which are “digitally composited imaginary walls, created from photographic pieces of architecture” she’s been collecting for years.
She also has great images of abandoned houses. They make me want to scout out such places and photograph them, too.

Her blog (which is great, check it out)
My camera collection is expanding — I got my Vivitar Ultra Wide & Slim in the mail yesterday. In honor of it…
