I’m turning into my mom. She loves little journals. She writes tons of lists in them. And look at me now…
Just bought this cutie to use at work:
I’m getting sick of the overuse of this term, but my purchase was definitely a money-saving “fail.”
This may be a new series. Cute things are totally testing my money management abilities these days. Maybe I’ll make myself confess to you all if I do actually buy something featured in one of these posts.
So, part one: decorative tape.

I highly doubt I’ll ever be as crafty and cute as the majority of Country Living readers. But this is neat and doable. Next time I buy tulips, I’m going to turn their petals back. Genius.

These are too cute not to post.

I’ve had such an itch to bake lately, but alas, no oven. Instead I find myself drifting to the cupcake shop nearby. Not good.

Hallie and I jumped on the train to Brooklyn to go to the Renegade Craft Fair this Saturday. Many of the artists/crafters their sell their goods on Etsy. There were over 250 booths with lots of t-shirts, prints, jewelry, handbags and… mustache things. Also seen: small dogs, lots of cute babies and really hip people. (The fair was in the artsy, young area of Brooklyn).
I made it out with only one purchase — a zippered clutch made by Emily of Applecart.

After exploring the area for a bit, we grabbed some ice cream because it was so toasty out. (Yes, Mom, I got a little sunburned. But I now have a Post-It on my desk that says ’sunscreen.’) Then, we headed to what is debatably my favorite NY spot — the Brooklyn Bridge.

That night, I joined up with Hallie and her roommates for a late dinner at a nearby Mexican place that offers free chips and salsa (which is unusual in NYC).

Recently, the camera I love — Vivitar Ultra Wide & Slim — seems to have had its production cut way back. On eBay, there are only nine up for sale currently… and many of their prices are far higher than they were when I bought it. Now I love this camera even more. The sort of “I have this great product and you can’t get it” love. Below are pictures from an antique store in Kalona, Iowa — Sisters. It’s on the highway that runs between Kalona and Iowa City.

If you’re in the Chicago area this weekend, be sure to check out the Renegade Craft Fair in Wicker Park. I missed my chance when it was in Brooklyn this summer and won’t be able to make the trek up to Chicago this weekend… If you go, let me know how it is.
If you can’t make it, look through the products of the vendors on Renegade’s site. If you’re into the handcrafted stuff, it serves as a great list of crafters. I have a slight allegiance to the Brooklyn group.
